Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 August 2026 · Applies to the Captain ADHD mobile app and captainadhd.com
The short version
- There is no account. You never tell us who you are.
- Your screening answers and result, check-ins, streak, decisions, reminders and anything you type stay on your phone. They are never sent to us, because there is nowhere to send them.
- The only thing that leaves your device is a purchase, if you subscribe — handled by Google Play and our payment provider.
- No advertising, no third-party trackers, no selling of data. Not now, and not later.
- Uninstalling the app deletes everything on your phone. If you subscribed, purchase records still sit with Google Play and our payment provider — see Your rights for how to have those erased.
Who is responsible
Captain ADHD is published by Claudio Barba, rue de la Cambre 2D, 1200 Brussels, Belgium. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we are the “data controller” for the limited processing described below.
You can reach us at support@captainadhd.com for anything in this policy.
What stays on your device
The app stores the following in a private database on your phone, readable only by the app. None of it is transmitted anywhere:
- Your answers to the ADHD screener and the result
- Your daily check-ins — energy level and the theme you picked
- Your streak, completed days, focus sessions and breathing sessions
- Anything you write, including the “one thing for tomorrow” in the evening wind-down
- Your reminders and their times
- The options you enter into the Decision Taker — in fact the app deliberately stores only how many options there were and which route you took, never the options themselves
- Your first name if you give one, and your theme and language choices
Health-related information is the reason this app has no backend. It is kept on your device by design, not by default.
What leaves your device
If you subscribe to Premium
Payment is taken by Google Play (or the App Store on iOS). We never see or handle your card details.
To know whether your subscription is active, we use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. When you open a paid feature or make a purchase, RevenueCat receives:
- an anonymous user ID generated on your device — a random string, not linked to your name, email or any account;
- the purchase receipt issued by the app store;
- basic technical information such as platform, country and app version.
RevenueCat, Inc. is based in the United States, so this data is transferred outside the EU under the safeguards in their data-processing terms. No health information — no screening answers, no score, no check-in, no mood — is ever sent to RevenueCat or anyone else. If you never subscribe, nothing is sent at all.
Legal basis: performance of the contract you enter into when you buy a subscription (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
If you tap Share
Sharing a result or a weekly recap opens your phone's own share sheet and hands the text to whichever app you choose. That happens because you asked for it, it goes only where you send it, and it never passes through us.
If you tap the helpline link
The crisis-support card links to findahelpline.com, which opens in your browser and finds services in your own country. It is an independent site with its own privacy policy, and we are not told that you tapped it.
What the app does not do
There is no analytics SDK in the app today. No usage tracking, no crash-reporting service, no advertising identifier, no third-party trackers of any kind.
If we ever add privacy-respecting product analytics, it will record only that a screen was reached or a purchase was attempted — never the content of anything: no screening answers, no score, not even a bucketed one, no card, no mood. That rule is enforced in the source code itself. This policy will be updated with a new date before any such change ships.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled by your phone's own operating system and delivered by it, even offline. They are never sent from a server, so no one — including us — can see that you set one or whether you acted on it.
This website
captainadhd.com sets no cookies, loads no third-party fonts, and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Like any website, our hosting provider records standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) in order to serve the page and protect against abuse.
How long anything is kept
| Data | Where | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Screening, check-ins, streak, notes | Your device only | Until you delete it in the app or uninstall |
| Subscription status | RevenueCat / app store | While the subscription is active, plus the period required by tax and accounting law |
| Support emails | Our mailbox | Until the conversation is resolved and no longer needed |
Your rights, and deleting your data
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability.
In practice, most of this is in your hands already: the data is on your device, and deleting the app deletes it. We hold nothing that identifies you. For purchase records, write to support@captainadhd.com and we will help; some records must be kept for tax purposes even after a refund.
How to delete everything
Your screening result, check-ins, streak and notes: uninstall the app. All of it is stored only on your device, so removing the app removes the data. There is no copy on a server and nothing to ask us for. To clear it without uninstalling, use your phone's Settings → Apps → Captain ADHD → Storage → Clear data.
Purchase records: these are the only data we hold, and they sit with Google Play and RevenueCat rather than with us. Email support@captainadhd.com from any address and say you want them deleted — no account or ID needed, since we have no account to look you up by. We will confirm within 30 days. Records that tax law requires us to keep are the one exception, and we will tell you if that applies.
If you believe we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority. Ours is the Belgian Data Protection Authority — Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit (autoriteprotectiondonnees.be), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels. You may also complain to the authority in your own country of residence.
Children
Captain ADHD is made for adults and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Not medical advice
The ADHD screener in this app is the ASRS v1.1 six-question screening instrument. It is a screening tool, not a diagnosis, and the app is not a medical device. Nothing in it can tell you whether you have ADHD, and it does not provide medical advice — only a qualified clinician can do that.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and any change that affects what leaves your device will be announced in the app before it takes effect.
